# Updates

### Where do updates come from?

New versions are available in the [Cfx.re Portal → Granted Assets](https://portal.cfx.re/assets/granted-assets) and are announced on our [Discord](https://discord.gg/6NaFJWKDYu). Every script has a **Changelog** page in this documentation.

### Versioning

| Version           | Meaning                                                           |
| ----------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------- |
| PATCH (1.0.**1**) | Bug fixes, config stays compatible                                |
| MINOR (1.**1**.0) | New features, config stays compatible (new options have defaults) |
| MAJOR (**2**.0.0) | Changes that need adjustments – read the changelog                |

The installed version is shown in `fxmanifest.lua` (`version`).

### Applying an update

#### Read the changelog

Check the script's changelog page for notes.

#### Back up your files

Back up `config/` and `locales/` – plus `bridge/` or your own media, if you changed them.

#### Replace the resource

Download the new version from the Portal, replace the folder and copy your files back.

#### Restart

Restart the server. New database tables and columns are added automatically where the script supports it.
